User enhancements and other news from the BND vault
It’s been a little while since I last posted a site update, they’re very boring for everyone involved but need to be done from time to time anyway. I’ll try and keep this one as brief as possible though.
- Every account is now twitter enabled, every blog post you make can be sent to twitter as a tweet with a URL embedded
- Podcasts coming soon. We have developed a way to post podcasts using the blog system, this will at first be used to create a BND cast but will eventually be opened up to the userbase too! (Free podcast hosting, YAY)
- Fewer adverts - always good :) We here at BND hate intrusive ads, and with the performance of the ones we have almost paying for the site we have reduced the overall ad count which should be countered by our rising reader base
- Personal ads. Although the ad count has been reduced, we’re still offering the chance for users to place their own ads in blog content If you write a blog which we move to the front page we believe you deserve to be paid for that, so we’ll add any Google adsense or similar code you have to your post. The better you write, the more you make :D
- Better focus, alongside less Copy and Paste journalism (if I say it enough it will become a phrase) we will be streamlining the type of content we run - focusing more on stories that will attract professional users - however we WILL be launching a section (and subdomain) shortly which will still aggregate stories which don’t make the main front page - anyone who thinks they can run this section get in contact with me please :D
