HP buys EDS for $12.5Bn

hp_logo.jpg

HP today announced intentions, and then finally went the whole hog a bought service company EDS for $12.5Bn or $25 a share.

Looks like HP wants a bit of IBMs service market, and to be honest buying what is probably the worlds largest outsourcing company could be one way of doing this.

What remains to be seen however is if buying a company with a 61% fall in year on year profits is the best decision HP have ever made, yet I seem to remember thinking th same thing when it took over Compaq.
