Take-Two, the publishers of Grand Theft Auto have sued the Chicago Transit Authority, accusing it of pulling ads promoting GTA4 without explanation. The publisher has sued for violating its free speech and its contractual rights.
Take-Two accused the authority and its sales agent of violating a £150,000 ad agreement which placed posters on the side of buses and related "spaces" throughout the Chicago transit system. The suit seeks an order for the transit authority to run the ad campaign as well as £150,000 in monetary damages.
The advertisements were removed following a report by a Fox News affiliate that questioned why the ad was allowed to run after a wave of violent crimes in Chicago, the suit said.
