CCP developing FPS EVE?

Iceland may still be experiencing apocalyptic-scale financial trouble, but EVE Online developer CCP continues to weather the storm. Eurogamer isreporting that in addition to developing the next expansion for EVE and another MMO called World of Darkness, the company is possibly working on an FPS based in the EVE universe.
During a presentation on the future of EVE, CEO Hilmar Petursson and senior producer Nathan Richardsson claimed that although resources were currently focused on the MMO’s next expansion, they have a “game console strategy.” Later, Eurogamer notes a video was shown of a “Halo-like” first-person shooter, complete with third-person vehicle footage, that featured architecture and gun designs “clearly redolent of the MMO’s art style.”
In EVE Online, the economy, lore, and even player feedback are heavily driven and regulated by the community, much moreso than other MMOs. Taking these concepts and applying them to a console shooter or even making a shooter that takes place in the player-driven MMO world could yield refreshingly different results. On the other hand, the last thing this industry needs is another game involving space marines or another developer risking the farm on a single high-budget title
