Ha, seems our Japanese gaming overlords aren't the only ones looking down the retail barrel at the limited edition gunmetal gray MGS4 PS3. Sony's official Playstation.Blog is reporting that the MGS4 Limited Edition PS3 Hardware Bundle will be available exclusively from Konami.com for $600.

XBox 360 Spring Update includes Motion controller and installations?

The spring update for the XBox 360 is just around the corner, especially if last years schedule is going to be repeated, and the rumour mill has literally sprung into action with all the force of a hungry cat breaking into a mouse obesity clinic.

One of the best to break free from the paper shackles of the rumour mill, push over old lady confirmation and sprint naked into fields of unadulterated speculation this year are the "leaked" update notes, which show over 80 additions to our lovely 360's. Contained in the list are the usual updates, fixes and feature additions that we get with these things (group chats, YAY) but included are also a couple of gems.

Playstation 2 still outselling Playstation 3, therefore is better?

If the Fanboys are to be believed, higher sales figures mean better consoles. But as others have pointed out, this isn't actually a very accurate way of benchmarking your product.

For fiscal 2008 Sony Playstation 3 has sold a respectable 9.2 million units, overtaking Microsoft's Xbox 360 and apparently showing that the PS3 is the mighty machine and adds to arguments fanboys have been having forever.

Online play is not a substitute for a solid solo game

The advent of PSN, XBox Live and the hundred and one PC variants of these services has been a great boon for gamers. No longer do we have to ring our buddies and get the IP address of the server they're playing on, or even have to go around their house to have a quick one on one splatter fest. With friends lists growing into their hundreds, on all services, there is always someone out there to play with and have fun with online. Community gaming is no longer a LAN party based in some god awful Community Centre next to the church, it's now acceptable.

HP buys EDS for $12.5Bn

HP today announced intentions, and then finally went the whole hog a bought service company EDS for $12.5Bn or $25 a share.

Looks like HP wants a bit of IBMs service market, and to be honest buying what is probably the worlds largest outsourcing company could be one way of doing this.

What remains to be seen however is if buying a company with a 61% fall in year on year profits is the best decision HP have ever made, yet I seem to remember thinking th same thing when it took over Compaq.

US military intelligence at it's best ?!

USAF Colonel goes on the offensive with botnet destroyer plan
After watching the US military infrastructure get kicked around like a playground weakling, an Air Force colonel wants to strike back by building a massive botnet that would mount massive denial-of-service counterattacks on adversaries that attack US networks first.

In a recently published article, Col. Charles W. Williamson III argued an Air Force-controlled botnet could be a cost-effective means to protect military networks under near-constant attack. He envisions collecting machines that would otherwise be discarded, removing their power-hungry hard drives and then making them available to wage attacks against foreign-based computers targeting the military.

Yahoo to Google: We love you thiiiis much

TechCrunch is reporting an interesting faux-pas with Yahoo's new partnership with McAfee where certain search terms will show up competitor Google as a site to be cautious over.

Whether a joke by Yahoo or simply a confirmation on how good McAfee is yet to be seen :)

Software DRM and its ability to drive customers away.

Continuing my rants about DRM I'll be looking at software DRM mainly in the gaming arena. This is a slight deviation from my original plan, I had hoped to discuss Movie DRM, but with the recent developments coming out of EA regarding Mass Effect for PC and Spore it seemed like the ideal opportunity.
